AIBŌ requires a family member to sign up an elder loved one on their behalf.

The simple 5-step AIBŌ process...

1. Tell us about your loved one.

Complete a short form about their background, interests, personality, and the kind of support that would brighten their week.

2. Matched with the right Buddy.

We carefully match your loved one with 1-3 local Buddies based on personality, interests, and career interests. All Buddies are ID & DBS checked.

3. Meet your Buddy at no cost.

Review Buddy profiles and arrange a free meet-and-greet (in person or online). No pressure, everyone must feel comfortable before moving forward.

4. Confirm the match & stay connected

Once matched, we set up a private WhatsApp group so you can organise visits, receive updates, and share messages or photos.

5. Start with flexible weekly visits.

Visits begin at times that suit you. You only pay for time used, no contracts, no commitment, just flexibility.

Expenses

Many meaningful activities involve small costs - a coffee, bus fare, museum entry, or cinema trip. To keep things smooth and stress-free, families can set a weekly spending cap.

Here’s how it works:

You choose a weekly cap (e.g., £25).
Your Buddy can spend up to this amount on activities for both themselves and the older adult they’re matched with, and log it as an expense.
If something would exceed the cap, they’ll request approval first.

Why are both people’s costs covered?

We never want a Buddy to feel unable to suggest or join in an activity because they personally can’t afford it. Covering the activity costs for both people ensures the experience is equal, accessible, and enjoyable - without awkwardness or financial pressure.

This system keeps Buddies empowered to plan fun activities while families stay fully in control of spending.

A typical AIBŌ match looks like…

Elder: Rita, 84 - former art teacher, loves painting, gardening, old films, and company.

Buddy: Ashton, 22 - studying Fine Art, loves walking, sketching, and listening to Rita’s stories.

Together they:
🎨 Paint in the garden.
📺 Watch old classics.
🌿 Go on small walking routes.
💬 Chat about Rita’s life & students.

This is what AIBŌ is all about!
